Passionate to reduce the un-necessary cesarean rate and bring the discussion about surgical birth to the foreground, Chelsea founded West Los Angeles chapter of ICAN (http://www.ican-online.org/). For 2 1/2 years, Chelsea led each meeting, brought in speakers, responded to requests, produced all materials, sold and managed professional memberships, created and maintained website, and established relationships for the group throughout Los Angeles County. She spearheaded the satellite groups which offered quarterly meetings in Sherman Oaks, the South Bay, and East LA. This established the framework for her successor to grow the group in to the county wide network that it was designed to be. Now, all ICAN meetings for Los Angeles County can be found here: http://icanoflosangeles.com/ Chelsea continues to consult with the organization as opportunities arise.
